Corkscore Launches Wine App For The Nokia N8

Corkscore, launch partner of the Nokia N8, has released a wine app for the new Nokia flagship smartphone.

Coinciding with the launch of the Nokia N8 in Australia, the Corkscore app is now available on the Ovi store.

The app is the most convenient way to write tasting notes, access the Corkscore wine and price database and other wine information on the N8. It also stores locations and photos with your wine notes.

The app also works with other Nokia Symbian3 phones.

Music & Wine Concert A Resounding Success

Wow, what an amazing experience! The Music & Wine concert organised by Gourmet Traveller Wine, Theme & Variations and Corkscore at the Sydney Conservatorium was a resounding success. Guests seated on stage around the Steinway piano enjoyed a range of tantalising performances by students of the Conservatorium, with each piece matched by a special wine.

You don't get any closer to a pianist in concert than this. When the first harp-like chords of the Chopin Nocturne emerged, a feeling of intimate magic filled the stage of Verbrugghen Hall. There we were – on stage, directly with the artist, sitting around the piano, sipping wines and taking it all in.

The program of the night consisted of music and wines matched together. Guests rated the wines with Corkscore and also provided thoughtful commentary on the wine-music matches:

Das neue App von Corkscore löst diese Probleme mit einer sauberen Weindatenbank, einfacher Handhabung und intelligenter „Magic Search“ Weinsuche.

La Tour, Latur, or Latour? Messy wine data and cluttered user interfaces make up over 60% of complaints about existing wine apps on the iPhone. Corkscore’s Vintage 2 wine app is a fresh take on wine searching, providing relief from these problems with a clean wine database, a user friendly interface and pre-emptive Magic Search.

“Messy wine data with multiple spellings of the same wine is a major problem for all current wine sites and mobile apps”, says Lars Herold, CEO of Corkscore.com. “A study by VinTank shows two market leading databases have about 60% of their wines wrong, misspelled or duplicated. Combine this with clumsy search solutions and the user is in a fine mess. We realised quickly that our approach had to be totally different on two fronts: a clean wine database and a smart way to find the wine you’re looking for.”

Corkscore.com has been designed from the outset to be different from other wine sites and apps. The company has built its own wine database with a team of wine researchers and editors. Clean wine data has been hand picked straight from the source from hundreds of thousands of winery sites. Corkscore also validates all new wine entries by users. The result is an unsullied wine database with cellar door prices for over 130,000 US, European, Australian and New Zealand wines.

The app also incorporates pre-emptive Magic Search technology. Just five letters are typically enough to find a wine, winery or region in the database, where search results are updated and predicted with every keystroke. “Typing ‘oreg’ for example takes you straight to Oregon, where you can see subregions, wineries and their wines systematically organised”, says Herold.
