91 points - Deep and concentrated colour, but showing no obvious signs of age. This is a big, old fashioned McLaren Vale red - high in alcohol and tannins, but drinking well at 17 years of age now that it has mellowed. This wine is probably at its peak now and won't get any better. A little disappointing given its original price tag, but a good traditional aged Aussie red all the same.

Tasted on Sat, May 1, 2021.
