94 points - Deep staining inky purple red. Nose shows concentrated red and black fruit, touches of oak and dried spice and herb. Reminds me strongly of a Rutherglen fortified! Incredible density on the palate, an almost sandy texture, a powerful wine that doesn’t give away its high 15.5% alcohol concentration. A good example of durif. Requires a good steak or piece of hard cheese. One wonders whether it should’ve been fortified; it’s almost there.

Tasted on Tue, Apr 20, 2021.

94 points - Pitch dark red, almost black tar colour. Dark purple edges when swirled around in the glass. Spices greet the nose, along with blackberry and dark plum notes. Slight alcohol heat announcing a big wine. The palate follows through with an almost viscous wine. Black fruits bordering on tar. There is enough acidity to counterbalance the viscosity. Massive wine, but in balance. Cedar is a dominant element on the palate. Fruit sweet core. Stands up to the spiciest ribs, bbq-ed. Superb, big wine for those occasions where you need a wine that can handle spicy, intense flavours. Really enjoying this.

Tasted on Sat, Oct 3, 2020.

94 points - Deep bright staining purple colour. Spicy, earthy aromas, showing hints of char and charcuterie. Dense and plummy on the palate, tight and compact, loads of firm tannin well matched with fruit power. Assertive and powerful. Lots of dried bbq spices, cloves, cumin. A delicious durif with presence. There’s some alcoholic heat in the finish, but it doesn’t detract.

Tasted on Sat, Oct 3, 2020.
