95 points - Deep and beautiful purple red. Gorgeous nose. Intense and very fragrant, jubey, liquorice, blue and blackcurrants. Blockbuster palate, rich and loamy with leather, mochas and lots of spice. Delicious and full bodied and powerful and yet has some incisiveness and is not fat. Not ready to drink yet, but an impressive style.

94 points - A bit of a surprise packet as several recent reviews / tasting notes had this well past it's prime from one of if not the most notorious vintage of the 1990's. Strong aromas of liquor ice, tar and aniseed introduce a medium to full bodied palate of presence which ethereally almost mixes further aromas of ripe white spices and red berried fruits. The palate is medium bodied yet has a firm and assertive presence without being cloying - sort of a firm yet romantic touch. The red fruits and spices continue to the finish which is soft yet persistent. A very impressive wine with stature, structure and maturity. In all a beautiful example of all that is good in australian Shiraz. A Christmas gift from Anthony Dunne in 1998.
