Montfaucon is located opposite to Châteauneuf-du-Pape, just across the Rhône River. Our vineyards are spread out between Montfaucon and the two neighbouring towns, Roquemaure and St Genies de Comolas.
As always, when they built an oppidum, the Romans chose a dominating position: the hill of Renjarde between Serignan and Uchaux is one of the first spurs of the Diois Pre-Alps. As far back as one can remember, this area has always known olive trees, fields of cereals and vines.
The 51 hectares of the Renjarde vineyards stretch across this naturally elevated area, protected from the winds …and from invaders.
The vines, facing south and grown on terraces, are planted on a soil composed of sand, sandstone, and calcareous rocks good for filtering, ideal conditions for a precocious harvest in the Côtes-du-Rhône Villages territory.
In fact, everything here joins together to favor the making of full-bodied, well-balanced wines.
Naturally, the grape varieties used on Domaine de la Renjarde are the traditional Grenache, Cinsault, Syrah, Mourvèdre to which is added the ancient Carignan, with its particular bouquet and valued for its structure. The vines on average are nearly 40 years old.
Yves Cuilleron, Pierre Gaillard and François Villard dreamt of reviving the vineyard of Seyssuel. They ended up doing so with great passion and pleasure. The adventure began back in 1996 when they decided to rent some fallow land for winegrowing
