The fruit for A.Retief is carefully sourced from vineyards in the Canberra District and the Hilltops as well as the Retief family vineyard in the Gundagai wine region of NSW.
A.Retief is a combination of Old and New World philosophies, where the focus is on the vineyard and the aim is to produce quality wines of elegance and finesse. The winemaking is old fashioned, where each parcel of fruit is treated separately and thoughtfully and the final blend is only put together a couple of months before bottling.
The Bowman family who has been farming this beautiful area of the Hilltops for seven generations and long-time neighbours to Barwang became the new owners of the vineyard at conclusion of 2021. The Bowman family are passionate farmers who fostered working with this incredible area over 100 years of working with the land around Barwang.
