The Domaine RION was founded in 1880 by Pierre Rion, the ex-sharecropper of the Château de la Berchère who had acquired the Château’s vines. His son Louis succeeded him, and during his time, he substantially enlarged the Domaine.
In 1952, the Domaine was divided between his 2 sons. The oldest, Marcel Rion, further enlarged the Domaine and stayed in Vosne Romanée. Bernard Rion has helped his father since 1973 and now manages the Domaine with his wife Armelle and his daughter Alice.
Domaine du Comte Liger-Belair is a very recent domaine created at the beginning of the year 2000 by Louis-Michel Liger-Belair, agricultural engineer and oenologist, with those few parcels of vineyards remaining in family hands.
In reality, the domaine is not at all recent ; Louis-Michel is renewing two hundred years of family tradition dedicated to the vines and wines of Burgundy in general, and to Vosne-Romanée in particular.
Since 1797, on the prestigious terroirs of Vosne-Romanée and Vougeot, our vineyards have offered the Estate their precious fruit. From these terroirs , we produce fourteen different wines, including la Grande Rue, a monopole of the Estate, one of the rare grands crus of Vosne-Romanée.
The adventure of this small family winegrowing holding nestled in the village of Vosne-Romanée, rich in know-how for 4 generations, begins with the arrival of François BLEE at Vosne-Romanée at the beginning of the last century.
It continues with his son Charles who, while assuring his position as manager of wine estates to Romanée Saint Vivant, succeeds his father and increases the area of the estate with his wife Hélène.
In 1966, the exploitation is divided between the 2 daughters of Charles and Hélène. The youngest, Jacqueline, create the René CACHEUX-BLEE vineyard with her husband René CACHEUX.
Their son Gérald, after an 18-year experience in various wine-producing farms in the region, took over from his parents in 2004. He now heads the René CACHEUX & Son vineyard.
