In 1988 one of the Cape’s most foremost wine makers, Beyers Truter of Kanonkop Estate, formed a partnership with four ardent wine lovers in Johannesburg with one ideal in mind: to produce a wine of exceptional character.
After exploring the Cape Winelands for a suitable location they found a perfectly situated farm in the Koelenhof area within the Stellenbosch Wine of Origin region. Coincidence provided an appropriate name. The farm’s original name was Nooitgedacht, which for five generations belonged to the Beyers family before Jan Andries Beyers sold it in 1895. Beyers Truter is a direct descendent of Jan Beyers, thus making him the sixth generation to farm this land.
Botanica Wines was founded in 2009 by owner and self-taught winemaker Ginny Povall, an intrepid American who fell in love with the beautiful Cape winelands, purchased Protea Heights farm in Stellenbosch’s Devon Valley and relocated to the southern tip of Africa in 2008.
Kanonkop Estate is situated on the lower slopes of the Simonsberg Mountain in the Stellenbosch Region of the Cape and confidently boasts with some of South Africa’s most premium wines.
Kanonkop is a fourth generation family estate, which was originally purchased by JW Sauer, a cabinet member in the parliament of the Union of South Africa. This estate has since then been handed down from father to son for over 40 years and is now in the talented, capable hands of its current owners Paul &
Johann Krige.
Kumkani was launched in South Africa in 2003 as a strategic brand for The Company of Wine People™ to proudly showcase its winemaking skill in producing top-of-the-range wines under a proudly African name.
In January 2012, the Kumkani brand was restructured as a black owned business with a strong commercial focus to grow sales in both the local and international markets.
The Kumkani range comprises premium single varietals including a Sauvignon Blanc, Chardonnay, Pinotage and Shiraz, as well as the Infiniti, a sparkling wine in the Cap Classique style.
Nestled between the magnificent Simonsberg Mountains and Klapmuts Hill, Le Bonheur is the gateway to South Africa’s most renowned wine producing region – Stellenbosch. With a history dating back to the 1700’s – Le Bonheur Wine Estate epitomises the rich heritage of Stellenbosch. Historically “Le Bonheur” was a resting place for travellers and traders – offering lush green surroundings and natural spring waters. The original owners of this scenic farm, the French Huguenot De Villiers family, fittingly named it “Le Bonheur”, meaning “happiness”. Today the Estate retains its sense of place, timeless setting and rich heritage.

Warwick Estate is a family-owned and run winery. Managing Director Michael Ratcliffe is the 3rd generation family member to oversee this high quality boutique operation. From 1771 till 1902, Warwick was known as the farm ‘De Goede Sukses’.
