Purchased in 2003, Agnes de Cervera is a family-owned property. The Cervera family have spent the last decade acquiring and planting over 250 acres of land in several villages, of which about 90 acres are vineyard. The project is named after Agnès, the 10 yo grand-daughter of Miguel Jimènez de Cervera, the owner of the winery.
In the Winter of 1996 the Buil & Giné family decided to return to wine elaboration in the Priorat region. Our family has been recently active in the food retail business and, before that, both our grand and great-grand parents had been wine makers and merchants. Bringing this tradition back to life, the present generation is dedicated to growing grapes and producing wine in each of the two areas of `Denominacions d'Origen' of the region,Priorat and Tarragona-Falset.
Some years ago Castillo Perelada made a bid for the success of quality winemaking in the Empordà. This same passion for high expression wines has guided us to Priorat, one of the most highly regarded Designations of Origin in Spain and the world, and one of the few that are recognised as being a Qualified Designation of Origin. Our venture with La Casa Gran del Siurana began with the main aim of creating modern, quality wines, through a winemaking process that would control all aspects from the moment the vine is planted onwards.
The vineyard area consists of a series of rugged hills dominated by the emblematic Montsant mountain range. The soil is extremely poor, consisting of pure schist. This combined with the warm, dry Mediterranean climate give wines with a unique personality. The low yields, due to the difficult terrain, harsh climate and poor soil, give the Priorat wines a great depth of flavor, aromas of ripe red fruits and a strong minerality from the soil. The altitude varies from 400 to 700 metres above sea level, giving cool nights and ideal conditions for maturing the grapes. This in turn contributes to the wines having good acidity, a delightful freshness and the ability to age for more than 20 years.
The Bodega Costers del Priorat SAT is located in a mountainous environment surrounding the town of Bellmunt de Priorat (Catalonia, Spain). The vineyards must be cultivated in very small stepped terraces, where productions are small and the works must be done almost entirely manually.
The philosophy of La Perla Del Priorat SL is based on two principles: respect and quality. The respect aims the local tradition of winemaking, the environment, and the human beings. Making quality wines is our way to respect the history of “La Perla Del Priorat” as well as our customers.
The fact that our vineyard is not irrigated serves both ecology and quality: each vine produces a maximal average of 1.1 kg of excellent quality grapes with high mineral and sugar levels, and no water is spoiled in the process.
Focussing on quality over quantity, Celler Vall Llach has firmly embraced a small-is beautiful ethos of microproduction for its vineyards and "trossos".
Consistent with this philosophy, the celler has imposed a ceiling on production and growth in order never to lose the personal and thorough supervision exerted over each stage of the process of wine making.
