The Domaine of du Roure de Paulin is in Fuissé, in the south of the Burgundy region, a few kilometers from the major wine town of Mâcon and the famous Rock of Solutré. The land has been in the family since the mid 19 th century.
The vineyards today total 5 hectares. Made up of small tracts of land, the soil is mostly the clay-chalk mix of the Jurassic period. The Chardonnay grape variety is in its element here, on slopes which are sometimes bathed in warm sunshine, but can also be ravaged by harsh winter weather. The exceptional wines from the appellations Pouilly-Fuissé and Mâcon-Fuissé must be made from this grape variety.
