Every great wine begins its journey in the Vineyard. This is certainly true of the Bendooley Vineyard wines with the hands on approach of our viticulturist Ben Brazenor. With a rich agarian history, Bendooley sits at an elevation of 600 meters above sea level, just outside the historic township of Berrima in the Southern Highlands, NSW.
The Cherry Tree Hill vineyard is located in the Southern Highlands of New South Wales. This region is the newest grape growing area in Australia and produces award winning premium cool climate wines. Dawning Day is the culmination of a 20 year long dream of ours, to own and run our own small vineyard. After much deliberation over site selection, we picked the perfect spot and planted a micro, three acre vineyard in Exeter in the Southern Highlands of New South Wales. This cool climate wine region called for varieties like Chardonnay, along with new clones of Pinot Noir from Yalumba nurseries, and our personal favourite, Gamay. Plans are in council for a cellar door, winery and cottage on the property, and we hope to be open to the public in late 2020. On the property we are also establishing bee hives and a self-sustaining food forest based on permaculture principles.
Meanwhile, we have already produced several wines, in partnership with our good friends at Swinging Bridge and Tertini Wines. These include: a 2016 Chardonnay and Pinot Noir from Orange and a 2016 Merlot Noir from the Southern Highlands. In barrel at the moment is a Skin Contact wine, Chardonnay and Pinot Noir, all from local Southern Highlands fruit.
The idea behind Dawning Day is to combine a passion for wine and winemaking with the desire to help those in less fortunate situations. How does it all work? At the moment, we are giving 10% of all revenues generated by sales of Dawning Day wine to help those that are in need, and the goal is for this % to increase as the brand grows.
[This winery may no longer be operating.] Established in 1997, Diamond Creek Estate is an award winning family owned and operated vineyard and olive grove.
Diamond Creek Estate is situated on the northern slopes of Mittagong, around 120 kms south of Sydney, in the Southern Highlands region of New South Wales.
The property for many years was dairy country, enjoys rich basalt soil, northern sun and although at an altitude of 680 metres, it has an unique topography, which leaves it relatively immune from frost.
This creates an ideal microclimate for cultivating premium quality, cool climate wine grapes and the finest olives for extra virgin olive oil.
The vineyard occupies around 15 acres and a similar area is dedicated to olive trees.
The vines are subject to intensive management for improvement, hand pruned and leaf-plucked as required. They are personally tended, cropped for optimised yields to produce premium quality cool climate wine grapes.
Diamond Creek Estate Wines are produced only from estate grown grapes.
The region, although the newest recognized geographical indication, is fast being acknowledged as a premium cool climate area and this is consistent with our objective to produce first class wines that will compete with any in Australia and overseas.
Far Ago Hill Wines was established in 2003 in Canyonleigh, a southern highlands NSW locality that is emerging as a premium cool climate wine-growing region. The vineyard was planted with the intention to produce a wine equal in quality to that of the best Pinot Gris regions in Europe
Rotherwood is an historic estate in the picturesque Southern Highlands of NSW. Undulating hills, fertile paddocks and the production of a wealth of prime livestock and produce distinguish this district that is located midway between Sydney and Canberra. Grapes were planted in the region as far back as the mid nineteenth century and in recent years the Highlands has been recognised as an exciting area for the production of premium cool climate wines.
Rotherwood Estate Wines is a family owned vineyard with 11 hectares under vine. The vineyard was planted in 2007 after extensive preparation of the site under the supervision of a specialist team drawn from around the country. The plantings comprise Sauvignon Blanc, Pinot Gris, Chardonnay, Viognier, Savagnin, Pinot Noir, Shiraz and Saperavi. These varietals thrive in the cooler summer Highland temperatures and on our north facing, sloping vineyard paddock are provided with the length of ripening which gives cool climate wines their distinct character. Indeed, at Rotherwood, distinction matters in everything we do – from the nurturing of the soil to the final picking of the fruit. We will continue to work tirelessly with uncompromising attention to detail from soil preparation to hand harvesting, to produce wines of a truly special quality.
