Drawn to the Coal River Valley for its cool climate and nutrient-rich soils, our vigneron found a region that aligns perfectly with the bright, expressive, and finely structured fruit he values.
Our vineyard spans 25 hectares within a 95-hectare farm – intentionally leaving space for nature to thrive. From the beginning, we’ve taken a holistic approach to farming, guided by the belief that great wine comes from healthy, balanced land.
Jake works with focus and restraint, allowing each vintage to speak for itself. Minimal intervention, thoughtful farming, and precise timing are the tools he uses to guide the fruit gently from vine to bottle.
Each wine is a quiet expression of place, shaped – not overshadowed – by the hand that made it.
Tasmania is a remarkable place to grow grapes, so in early 2011 we set off for a look and ended up buying a vineyard. The Tolpuddle Vineyard in the Coal River Valley was planted in 1988. The climate is cool and dry - ideal conditions to grow Chardonnay and Pinot Noir of exceptional quality. We believe Tolpuddle will be a great Australian single vineyard.
