Four Sisters’ romance with the grape began in the mid 90s. Inspired by his four beautiful daughters, renowned Australian winemaker Trevor Mast set about creating a wine that was stylish, sophisticated and modern; a reflection of our world today.
Mount Alexander Winery is operated by the Blamires family on the north eastern slopes of Mount Alexander in Central Victoria.
The vineyard is planted in the sandy granite soils of Sutton Grange which are famed for producing high quality Shiraz and Cabernet Sauvignon. The property and vineyard are dissected by Axe Creek.
The Tallis family has been part of the Dookie landscape for several generations. A traditional farming family by background, involved in broadacre cropping, sheep and cattle, our wine journey began during 1998.
A passion for wine, coupled with the rich red volcanic soils and gently sloping hills sweeping across the property provided too great a temptation and the plunge into the wine industry was taken. In early 2000, family and friends hand picked the first harvest. This batch of wine was made with great anticipation and whilst tiny, we were so encouraged (and to be honest, a little astonished) by the quality of our fruit and the potential of our vineyard, that we now have 24ha established including shiraz, cabernet, viognier, sangiovese, barbera, nebbiolo and merlot.
