Mawhitipana Ridge Estate is a single-site vineyard located on Waiheke Island in a sunny coastal valley, producing limited quantities of high quality wine.
Hand produced from a concentration of vines, our wine evokes the experience of escape in a relatively hidden piece of countryside with a glance of the sea, as the name ‘Ma whiti’ (‘escape’ or ‘glance’) suggests. Our native forest planting remains true to the ‘pana’ or Manuka tree berry that once blanketed the land and also remains true to our purpose. We are two families with a shared passion for creating something special, with ‘awata’ or soul. Together, we are deeply committed to kaitiakitanga - protecting and enhancing the land or life force for our children, future generations and the local community.
Our wine naturally expresses the character of our site, from the heavy clay soil to the coastal elements, sunny slopes and low-intervention, sustainable growing and cultivating techniques.
