Archery Road, named after the local archery club, is situated at the southern central area of the Barossa Valley. The surrounding landscape is bound by ridges to the east and the west and has great diversity of soils, providing a range of flavour profiles in the grapes grown in the region.
Ballycroft was originally the name of the cheesery run by sisters Sue Evans and Tracey Skepper. The15 acre property is located in Greenock in the Barossa Valley. The vineyard was planted in 1998 and after the cheesery was established in 2003 the waste water from it was used to irrigate the vines. The whey was also used as fertilizer on the vineyard and vegetable patch and functioned as a fungicide for powdery mildew.
[This winery may no longer be operating.] Barossa Old Vine Company (BOVC) has taken over 100 years to evolve, and combines unique history with unquestionable passion. Small volumes of individually crafted wines are created from the finest fruit with the best (not necessarily the most modern) equipment.
The Glaetzer philosophy focuses simply on the production of small-volume, super premium red wines. The Glaetzer range consists of four individual offerings; Wallace Shiraz Grenache, Bishop Shiraz, Anaperenna Shiraz Cabernet Sauvignon and the iconic flagship Amon-Ra Shiraz.
A hand shake in 1998, one hundred countries, over 65 vintages across the world and a mutual passion for hand crafting 100% Barossa & Eden Valley Traditional wines.
[This winery may no longer be operating.] What I’m all about is championing the real essence of The Barossa’s independent growers, their distinctive fruit and ultimately the wine that evolves from their efforts.
A group of these like-minded, passionate growers is assembling around me, enabling Captain Barossa to show case the fruit of The Barossa’s unique micro-climates... initially from Eden Valley, Greenock, Williamstown, Ebenezer and Koonunga.
Nestled just an hour away from Adelaide, Barossa Valley stands as a testament to Australia’s rich winemaking history, showcasing a lineage of grape growing and winemaking families stretching back seven generations. We are the custodians of Australia’s most iconic varietal style – the Barossa Shiraz – and home to some of the country’s most premium and sought-after wines.
Charles Melton Wines has produced premium Barossa red wines, always at our winery on Krondorf Road, since 1984. It was in the mid 80's that Charlie and a small band of Barossa winemakers turned their winemaking efforts to what was considered then a couple of unfashionable varieties; Shiraz and Grenache.
With these varieties, Charlie built a small range of classic dry reds including a Grenache/Shiraz/Mourvedre blend called the Nine Popes. These wines were initially styled on those from the Rhone but are now considered leading examples of the varieties in their own right.
I have immensely enjoyed the time it has taken to restore the Shiraz vineyard, which was planted in 1910. It took me 10 years of pruning and re-trellising to get the ancient vines back into shape. Because we have never had Phylloxera in South Australia, thanks to a 120 year quarantine, the vines survive on their own roots. This enables them to attain a great age, while still remaining productive. As the most senior vines begin to decline, they are rejuvenated with younger growth material through the ancient technique of layering. The original root systems are maintained. They have survived in the same environment for so many seasons. They have become harmonious with their surroundings and strongly resilient to the swings of seasonal change. The roots extend deep into the underlying decomposed podzolic clay, which stores moisture during the Summer Months, eliminating the need for irrigation. In addition, the pond at the bottom of the vineyard acts as a passive water source, supplying the underlying soil strata with moisture. The attached soil map shows that the property lies at the transition of two soil types. The Southern, North-East facing hillside is where the vineyard is located. It is a very sheltered site, well protected from Southerly storms. The underlying soils are the result of weathered rock from the Paleozoic age, some 500-250 million years ago. We believe that there was a semi-tropical rainforest at this location around 40 million years ago, hence the underlying, acidic, podzolic clays, which nurture the vine roots. The average annual rainfall is around 750mm, although the past few seasons have been unusually dry. To sustainably manage the vines, less is better. I don't disturb the soil with tillage. I prune the vines hard and feed them gently during the growing season with a spray of natural nutrients. As soon as the grapes begin to colour, the entire vineyard is covered with bird net, to prevent damage to the fruit and to enable it to achieve full ripeness in pristine condition.
Once upon a time around the end of the 19th century, this 72 acre patch of real estate included only a few acres of vineyard, with most of the area being dedicated to cropping and dairy cattle. At the start of the 1930?s Oscar Semmler, Wayne’s grandfather bought the block and more vineyard was planted, but it remained primarily a grazing area for dairy purposes. Oscar’s Dad referred to the dirt as a “wonder of creation”, a fact borne out by the wine now coming from it. The vineyard of that time, while reflecting the fortified market of the day, did not predict the potential to produce the rich varietal flavours found in current production.
Oscar’s son Ken returned to the Barossa Valley in the early 1970?s after first spreading his wings as a fighter pilot with the RAAF, dodging anti-aircraft fire above the jungles of Vietnam. Then in 1975, the transition began with Ken starting the planting of the beloved Shiraz, and it is this first area of Shiraz which provides the precious component of Dutschke Wines. Currently forty five acres are planted with Shiraz making up one third of that area, the balance including Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, and Chardonnay. Most of the fruit gets passed onto other Barossa winemakers.
The vineyard that is today known as Elderton, which lies within the town boundaries of Nuriootpa, was first planted in 1894 by early German settlers, the Scholz family. In 1916, it was purchased by Samuel Elderton Tolley who built himself a sprawling homestead on the Estate and sold the fruit to his family’s winery.
In 1975, the descendants of Mr Tolley decided to place the vineyard on the market. Due to the very tough times that the Barossa was enduring, there was no interest in the property from local growers or wineries and it remained on the market becoming more derelict annually.
“If you buy the house, I will give you the surrounding 72 acres of old vines for nothing”. This was the proposal offered to Lorraine and Neil Ashmead in 1979. The rambling old homestead looked ideal for a growing family and the Ashmead’s worked tirelessly to salvage and restore a phenomenal treasure of a vineyard.
In 1982 Elderton began producing wines from the Estate. Tough times prevailed, but ultimately the vision of the founders shone through and Elderton is today celebrated as a major reason for the rejuvenation of the Barossa. At present, brothers Cameron and Allister (second generation) work with the Estate vineyard in Nuriootpa and have also purchased other exceptional vineyards in Craneford and Greenock. Their aim is to showcase the absolute best that the Barossa has to offer.
Fox Gordon was founded in 2000 to allow the owners to live the dream of producing, marketing and selling premium wines from the Barossa Valley and Adelaide Hills after learning their trade working in some of Australia's largest wine companies.
The founders, Sam and Rachel Atkins (nee Fox), David Cumming, Jane Gordon and Natasha Mooney wanted to produce great wines that provide outstanding value for money under a brand that would offer both integrity and beauty.

Gibson Wines was established in 1996 and draws on over 50 years of experience of its founder; viticulturist, geologist and winemaker, Rob Gibson.
Rob – with wife Anne and son Adam uphold a ‘wine growing’ philosophy. A belief deeply rooted in an understanding of the relationship between vineyards, their cycle of growth and maximising flavour intensity in resultant wines.
During his years studying at Roseworthy College, and later as head of the first viticultural department of Penfolds, Rob’s passion for wine growing and geology led him to be known as ‘The Dirtman’.
The Dirtman moniker continues with Gibson, as does the pursuit for maximising flavour.
In 1998 Charlie Scalzi planted 25 acres of vines at Lyndoch in the Barossa Valley establishing the God's Hill label. God's Hill vineyard consist of the famous shiraz, cabernet sauvignon, merlot and chardonnay. Charlie's first vintage was introduced in 2001 only producing 2 barrels for family and friends. As this was so successful we released our 2002 vintage to the public and in doing so we have increased our vineyard to 30 acres.
Godfrey Wines is a super premium winery based in Springton, South Australia. This small outlying town of the Barossa Valley is only minutes from the Eden Valley and some of the most wonderful vineyards in Australia.
Gumpara Wines produce premium quality hand crafted table wines from their seventh generation family owned and tended single vineyard at Light Pass in the famous Barossa Valley.
The range includes award winning Shiraz, Grenache and Semillon.
Along with dry white and red table wines is a range of varietal fortified wines. These wines have been made in small batches over decades using specific and individual wine making methods. These fortified wines receive special care and attention and are truly rare and unique.
When we bought the vineyard the locals called it a fruit salad block, which is why the big companies overlooked it when everyone was clamouring for Barossa vineyard in the 1990s. "Fruit salad" means there were eight different varieties – most were unsuited to the climate in this part of the Barossa. The traditional idea was that prices can't be bad for everything every year - a sort of each way bet. The old Silesians were pretty sharp. We kept the old Shiraz, Cabernet Franc and Merlot vines and over the years have replaced with the other varieties - Cabernet Sauvignon, Mataro and Tempranillo.
Alex has long been interested in 'Old-World' wines and their symbiosis with all things culinary; particularly Shiraz from an appellation in France's Northern Rhone Valley called Cote Rotie (roasted slope). Shiraz has been the only red grape grown there for thousands of years, initially thought to have been cultivated by the Roman Empire. A great legend states that in the Middle Ages, a Seigneur of Ampuis called 'Count Maugiron' owned the steeply terraced hills of Cote Rotie. He was also blessed with two beautiful daughters, one a blonde and the other a brunette. The Southern slope of the Cote (also suited to viognier) which contains more granite, mica and limestone made a softer, rounded more elegant wine which delighted its drinkers with perfume and femininity. Here, the soil and wines showed colour and character of his blonde daughter. The Northern slope contained heavy soils of schist and iron, producing an intense wine with dark fruits and tannin that required age to show its true potential. Here, the soil and wine showed colour and character of his brunette daughter. When Count Maugiron finally retired he passed on the two Cotes to his daughters and to this day, they are still referred to as the 'Cote Blonde' and 'Cote Brune'.
These soil structures and colours are of utmost importance to the properties of the fruit which grow in these vineyards. For Alex's unique Barossa Valley wines, he selected two vineyard sites where, similar to Côte Rotie, the soils produce contrasting styles of Shiraz.
'The Blonde' comes from a vineyard in Stonewell, which consists of sandy loam mixed with quartz on a limestone base that gives the wine accentuated perfume and complexity.
'The Brunette' comes from a high elevation vineyard in Moppa, which consists of heavy soils of deep red clay and ironstone that give structure, longevity and reward from cellaring.
Hewitson was founded in 1998 as a result of winemaker Dean Hewitson’s driving passion to produce
world-class wine from the historic, dry-grown vineyards of South Australia’s very best regions including the Barossa Valley, McLaren Vale and the Adelaide Hills.
Beginning his career at a young age Dean completed his winemaking degree at Australia’s world-famous Roseworthy Agricultural College in 1986. This was then followed by working for a decade in one of Australia’s leading wineries. During this time Dean worked three vintages in France, visiting its many diverse regions including Bordeaux, Burgundy, Champagne, Beaujolais, The Rhone and Provence. Here he gained considerable knowledge in Old-World winemaking techniques and learnt the value of great vineyards. Dean then travelled to California to study at the renowned UC Davis, completing his Masters in Winemaking in two years. He toured the West Coast of the United States, visiting and working in regions such as Santa Barbara, Napa Valley, Oregon and Washington State.
The Hahn family have lived and worked on their land since 1846. This long tenure has played a large part in enabling them to produce premium wine made from their heritage vineyard.
Cabernet Franc, Cabernet Sauvignon, Malbec, Merlot, Petit Verdot Semillon, Shiraz and Viognier, are among the many varietals they have on offer.

Kaesler Wines is home to some of the Barossa Valley’s most highly regarded estate grown premium wines including the ‘Old Bastard’ Shiraz, ‘Old Vine’ Shiraz, ‘Avignon’ Grenache Mourvèdre and ‘The Bogan’ Shiraz.
The Kaesler family were pioneers who settled in the Barossa Valley in the 1840’s and planted their first vines in 1893. To this day, Kaesler wines are made from these ancient, dry grown vineyards.
The Kaesler vineyards were owned and operated by the Kaesler family from 1893 to 1986. In 1999, renowned agribusiness entrepreneur, Ed Peter and established winemaker Reid Bosward, together with business partners, seized the opportunity to purchase the property. They immediately set about regenerating the famous old vines and creating legendary wines.
The team at Kaesler continue to practice regenerative farming techniques to not only sustain the environment but improve it. The results speak for themselves with the wines receiving the highest accolades from around the world.

Back in 2005 three mates decided to put their efforts together and create Naked Run Wines. After studying at University Steven, Jayme and Brad went their separate career paths all within different capacities of the Wine industry.
The concept behind Naked Run is simple, make good wine – with a variety of products that are compatible for all palates and noses. After all, everyone is different and they understand so are people’s tastes and likes.
The first year saw the Naked Run Wines portfolio start with a Barossa Valley Grenache Shiraz blend and a Clare Valley Riesling. Two strong wines that the boys were extremely proud of and that lead to the growth of the brand.
Ollin is a family-owned winery dedicated to crafting premium small-batch wines in the heart of the Barossa Valley. Rooted in the meaning of "Ollin"—the essence of movement and the interconnectedness of all things—we create wines that reflect the natural flow of life and the rich heritage of the region. The current custodians of the Hickinbotham family’s wine industry heritage are David & Dena Hickinbotham and their son, Alan. In 1936, David’s grandfather, Alan Robb Hickinbotham, was one of the founders responsible for establishing the highly respected Winemaking (Oenology) education course at Roseworthy Agricultural College in South Australia. Accountable for teaching young, up-coming winemakers and subsequent industry leaders from 1936 – 1948, he became regarded as the father of Australian professional winemaking education. The Hickinbotham family have been growing grapes since 1971. Paringa was established in 1999 and then established the 3 Rings wine brand in 2004. Both brands are sold domestically in Australia whilst exporting to the USA, Canada, Germany, Austria, Switzerland, Singapore, Hong Kong, China and various other Asian markets.
Pindarie is at the gateway to the Barossa Valley, on Gomersal Road on the Western Ridge of the valley. It is a family owned property, that Tony took over from his grandfather in 1990. Together with Wendy the transformation of Pindarie began. What was once a run-down & over-cleared farm has become a sustainable property with Tony and Wendy planting over 12,500 trees in the last 20 years.
Purple Hands Wines is a family-owned premium boutique Barossa
wine company owned and operated by Craig Stansborough and
Mark Slade. Craig and Mark have been mates for over 25 years
and have a long association with the Barossa. After Craig planted a vineyard in the southern Barossa in 2000 with the intension to develop our own label, we started this journey in 2006, and named it Purple Hands Wines, a play on the fact a red wine makers hands become stained purple during vintage due to the constant contact with grape skins and the juice.
Our aim is to produce fruit driven wines of elegance and texture, showcasing not only the Barossa but each little patch of dirt where we source grapes from. Purple Hands Wines is a strong supporter and advocate of sustainable vineyard management, and have been managing their southern vineyard with organic practices since 2017. We believe in importance of soil health and making a minimal impact on the environment.
A love for the Barossa and its rich history for great full flavoured reds led us to buy a plot of ancient Grenache bush vines farmed by a famous local pioneer, Elmore Schulz. Nurturing vines into life on this exceptional red site in the world renowned northern Barossa area, we have come to appreciate the toil of the Barossa pioneers. We believe winemaking is both an art and a science, and so we try to create our own work of art in each wine.
Our grapes are hand pruned and hand picked from our low yielding single vineyard. The sandy loam over clay soil type allows the vines to experience just enough stress so they produce small berries with great flavour concentration.
We only make a small amount of wine each year. Our approach to the vineyard and the winemaking is very hands on. Each vineyard section and wine parcel is treated individually, tailoring the grape growing and winemaking to express the unique personality.
Since buying the vineyard in 1996 we have had the plan to make small batches of wine and to develop our own label. Finally, in 2011 this dream became a reality with the first release of our wine!
The name Red Art is inspired from our vineyard site growing only red grapes and a love for art. I designed our labels using my photography. Rojomoma also means Red Art. ‘Rojo’ is the Spanish word for red, and ‘moma’ is my favourite art museum – the Museaum of Modern Art, in New York. Rojomoma reflects a love for travel and culture.
The revitalised Richmond Grove is focused on its Barossa 30-year history which began in 1993. The
move to the Barossa marked a significant shift for the brand, with a focus on producing premium
regional, varietal wines under the slogan, ‘Special wines from special places’, however it was the
wines from the Barossa, that captured the hearts of lovers of true varietal and regional character.
[This winery may no longer be operating.] Rocland Estate produces a number of wine ranges including Rocland Estate, Chocolate Box, Duck Duck Goose, Ass Kisser and most recently Petite Rocland. [This winery may no longer be operating.] Nestled amid the heart of the Barossa Valley, lies the premium vineyards of the Rohrlach Family. For decades these vines have been carefully attended and nurtured by third generation vignerons Kevin, Graham and Wayne. The three brothers joined their father on the land once they finished school and now with their wives Lyn, Lynette and Kaylene, and their children, they continue their father’s legacy.
Having a combined 150 years of experience in the wine industry, their dedication to quality and excellence was awarded in 2003 when they were awarded ‘Vignerons of the Year’ by the Barons of the Barossa.
After growing for many years for two prominent Barossa wineries the idea was considered to release their own label. It seemed to be an exciting new venture for the company’s future, and so with the support of the entire family in 2000 the first grapes were harvested for the future ‘Rohrlach Family Wines’.
In 2002 the inaugural vintage of Rohrlach Family Wines Shiraz and Cabernet Merlot were released. The succulent juice that was used in these two releases were sourced from three of the family’s prominent vineyards fondly known as ‘The Homestead’, ‘The Ponda Rosa’ and ‘The Light Pass’ blocks.
The wine label for ‘Rohrlach Family Wines’ was designed specifically for the family by a close friend and up and coming Barossa artist, to exhibit the family emblem, the grape leaf. The grape leaf is instrumental to the family heritage. The three diamonds represent the three brothers and their families and the leaf overall represents the years of toil and hard work that has gone into making their vineyards as successful as they are today.
The future looks promising for the Rohrlach Family. The new generations of Rohrlachs are keen to continue the legacy that their great Grandfather started back in 1930. And so, I can only expect that this family venture will continue to grow as an influential part of the Australian wine Industry.
Five generations have passed since Gottfried and Johanna Rosenzweig immigrated to Australia in 1850, fleeing a life of poverty. They purchased a small farm in the Barossa village of Moculta and today, through hard work and commitment, the Rosenzweig family owns over 200 acres of vineyard on the northern soils of the Valley with the oldest surviving vines planted in 1935. These vineyards have different soil types, micro climates and are managed under Environmental and Quality Assurance programs. Determined to continue the family’s vineyard legacy for future generations, Rosenvale Wines was established in 1999. With our minimal intervention winemaking philosophy, the essence of our vineyards is expressed in each bottle. Rosenvale’s Estate label captures the terroir and individuality of our vineyards whilst the Old Vines Reserve label and Limited Release label highlight the best of a vintage.
‘Leave the sheep and run with the bulls’ was the driving philosophy when the Hill-Smith Family created Running with Bulls. First, with their introduction of the Spanish variety Tempranillo in 2008, followed by launching Garnacha and championing ‘chilled reds’. Born from a different attitude and a different approach, Running with Bulls challenged the status quo and created something not only new, but brilliant. For that, we unapologetically say Buck Tradition.
In 1859 William Salter and his son Edward planted a vineyard in the Barossa Valley from which they produced 8,000 litres of a wine they called ‘No. 1 Shiraz’. Pioneers of the region, the Salters, were some of the first to purchase land there and recognise its immense potential. It was in these prosperous surrounds that the duo set about making wines with a philosophy that remains much the same today – to express the individuality of the vineyards and produce great Barossa wines known for their richness, intensity and character. In 2019, Saltram celebrated its 160th anniversary. For 16 decades, only ten senior winemakers have been in charge at Saltram - testament to the exceptional standards and commitment that the portfolio is built upon. Saltram’s Cellar Door resides at the entrance to the Barossa township of Angaston in South Australia. With over 160 years of winemaking excellence, Saltram has an extensive range of wines and offers one of the best wine experiences in the Barossa Valley. The Restaurant, alongside the cellar door, Salter’s Kitchen, provides a modern regional cuisine with a seasonal menu showcasing the best of the region’s produce.
Our small-batch wines are curated from an intuitive approach, creating unexpected and lighter style wines that are interesting, creative and sophisticated. Unrestrained from any rules set by science or a "textbook", our wines are made from understanding the soils and the seasons, allowing us to tell a story about the Barossa through the glass.
Seppeltsfield was established in the Barossa in 1851 by the visionary Seppelt family. The estate was founded on the belief in the importance of providing a whole community with work, purpose and tenure for life. Today, the fully working heritage-listed winery is undergoing a renaissance. Seppeltsfield’s innovative 1888 Gravity Cellar and surrounding winery buildings have been painstakingly resorted into a modern day village. The Seppeltsfield property encompasses over 420 acres of ancient vineyard, gardens and heritage-listed architecture. A vibrant community of wine, food, craft, design and beauty awaits visitors, highlighted by a multi-award winning Cellar Door, FINO Restaurant, JamFactory Craft + Design studios, DRAGAN Fine Art Photography Gallery and Vasse Virgin skin care. Seppeltsfield is most famed for the Centennial Collection - an irreplaceable and unbroken lineage of Tawny, every vintage from 1878 to today. The estate remains the only winery in the world to release a 100 year old, single vintage wine each year.
Seppeltsfield’s winemaking philosophy is guided by four elements, which reflect both our history and our future endeavours. Our wines are handcrafted ultimately for enjoyment, but with an eye on ageability. Our unique 1888 Gravity Cellar plays a significant role in the style of many of our bottlings, and for our still wines, we celebrate the re-imagining of traditional fortified varietals. These elements are grounded in a belief of place over person. Our winemaking team’s primary aspiration is to translate the character of our vineyard sites and each season – in our wines themselves.
The Winemaking team is consists of Warren Randall (Executive Chairman and Proprietor), Fiona Donald (Chief Winemaker), Charlie Seppelt (Senior Winemaker), Matthew Pick (Senior Winemaker), Henry Slattery (Winemaker) and Kingsley Fuller (Group Viticulturist).
Shanahans Wines was born from an unsurpassed love and respect for life on the land, established in 2005 by winemaker John Harris, due to his passion for wine and love for his family. The name is a tribute to John’s family and in particular his late grandfather James (Jim) Shanahan, with whom he spent many of his earlier years as a child, spending school holidays and weekends with him exploring and helping him on his beloved farm. The vineyards and winery are located on the legendary Roennfeldt Road on the border of Greenock and Marananga surrounded by some of the best producers in the Barossa Valley if not the world. We hand-craft using small parcels of premium fruit that represent the true individual character of the vineyards and varieties. Fruit is fermented in small batches on skins in open top fermenters to retain as much fleshy fruit flavour as possible. Each wine in the portfolio tells a unique story which is close to my heart, and also reflects the individuality and charisma of each wine. Just like Jim each wine has loads of character and over delivers to bring you something truly outstanding.
Our wines are made as naturally as possible — using the wild yeasts that are part of each vineyard's ecosystem, and adding only a tiny amount of sulphur before bottling.
Simpatico Wines is a family owned boutique winery in the heart of the Barossa Valley South Australia. Vineyards: Vine Vale 18Ha and Eden Valley 9Ha
Established in 2000, Sons of Eden is intimately involved in all aspects of crafting wines of unquestionable quality, from the vineyard right through to the bottle.
Varieties that the Barossa produces to a world standard are hand-picked from 30 unique vineyard sites and handled through Sons of Eden’s minimal intervention small-batch winery. As a result, the wines have a strong sense of individuality.
With a combined 50 Barossa vintages amassed between the Sons’, Corey Ryan and Simon Cowham, their focus on crafting world class wines is uncompromising.
After managing a B&B in the south of France, Martin and Vivien Rawlinson were inspired to establish St John’s Road in 2001, with a vision to produce full flavoured, yet elegant, wines which reflect the essence of the Barossa.
Custodianship of St John’s Road now rests with Phil Lehmann, Jonathon Hesketh, Dale Wyman, Alister Mibus and a variety of Barossa wine growing families. Their aim is to uphold Martin and Vivien’s vision of producing wines that are not only true to the Barossa, but also the sub districts and vineyards they are grown in.
Over the past 90 years many a Fromm family member have been referred to as a 'character' of some sort. Take Charlie and Minnie for example, who founded the TeAro Estate vineyard by planting Semillon and Shiraz back in 1919 with their bare hands and the use of a single crow bar. Their strength of character has filtered through each generation thereafter with a sense of pride and love for the land and the vines. It is our ancestors that have inspired our tag - 'It takes great characters to make great wines', and, in the 3 generations since dear Charlie and Minnie, we have continued what they started almost a century ago.
Since that time, under the guidance of 2nd and 3rd generation family members Ron and Trevor, the TeAro vineyard portfolio has grown to some 58 hectares including Cabernet Sauvignon, Grenache, Pinot Gris, Shiraz, Viognier, Merlot, Semillon, Mataro and Tempranillo. In 2001, the original Hausler property, fondly referred to as 'Sugarloaf', where 2nd generation Fromm family member Fay (nee Hausler) was born and raised, was purchased by the Fromm family. This vineyard and grazing property is now managed by 4th generation family member, Ryan.
Until 2001 the two properties harvested their entire crops for the larger wineries in the region; however it was in this very year that Trev's curiosity got the better of him, and he decided to bottle a tonne of Shiraz for the local football club, family and friends. Over the past 8 years the quantity produced under the brand TeAro Estate has slowly increased, and in 2006, under the direction of Todd Rowett, the family undertook a total rebranding, focusing on capturing the true characters behind the wines and in the wines themselves.
The Scholz's Australian story began in 1845 when 40 year-old Johann Gottfried joined his neighbours to flee the religious persecution of his Silesian homeland, and emigrate to a fertile valley on the other side of the world - the Barossa.
Thorn-Clarke Wines are sixth generation grape growers in the Barossa. With our family history in the Barossa region dating back to the 1850s and estate grown vineyards now totalling over 270 hectares, Thorn-Clarke produces a range of award winning Barossa Valley red and Eden Valley white wines.
Established in 1998, the single vineyard wines of Troll Creek are grown and handcrafted in the Eastern foothills of the Barossa Valley, lovingly nurtured by the hands of the Hage family.
When the first German immigrants arrived in South Australia, they brought with them their culture, religion, and a hard work ethic. They established vineyards and built a church to house their faith in a small town. However, the two priests disagreed on most things. In an attempt to stop their quarrelling two separate churches were built. The original preachers might not have seen eye to eye, and these days we still have our differences, but one thing we all agree on is South Australia’s reputation to grow world class wine.
Coles Liquor-owned brand.
In 2001 my wife Vicki and I moved to the Barossa Valley, we rented a lovely old property on ten acres out at Mt Mckenzie, approximately halfway between Angaston and Eden Valley which we purchased in 2003.
Our dream was to plant a vineyard and start a small winery. Things didn’t go according to plan, we drilled for water a vital ingredient for planting a vineyard with no success.
We made good friends with Domenic Torzi and Tracy Mathews our neighbours who coincidently have a great vineyard and wine label Frost Dodger.
Over the odd bottle of red most Friday nights I explained my dream and vision to Dom, not to be deterred Vicki and I thought we can still produce our wine but we would have to source quality grapes on long term agreement.
Dom has been fantastic helping sourcing great quality vineyards and being our winemaker. The combination of vineyards:
Shiraz from Greenock, Eden Valley & Lyndoch
Old vine Grenache from Eden Valley

What began as a yearly diversion for label designer Aaron Woods and marketer Nicholas Crampton has grown into almost a full time obsession, with a range of wines from the Barossa and Eden Valley spanning five varieties and numerous styles.
The ambition of Woods Crampton is to create unforced wines that showcase the quality of their fruit and tell the story of their vineyards. Minimal intervention winemaking follows to create elegant and expressive wines.

[This winery may no longer be operating.] Zitta Wines was established in 2004 by owner and winemaker Angelo De Fazio at Greenock, in South Australia’s world-renowned Barossa Valley wine region.
Taking its name from the Italian word for “quiet”, the label is dedicated to the art of traditional, old world-style wine making. Using natural techniques with minimal inputs, it seeks to capture the essence of the De Fazio family vineyard – featuring only those varieties perfectly suited to the local conditions – in exceptional estate wines.
