HdV is a venture between the Hyde Family of Napa Valley and the de Villaine Family of Burgundy. The families, related by marriage, share long histories in French and Californian winemaking. In HdV, we have brought together our knowledge and experience for the purpose of creating single vineyard wines from the slopes of Hyde Vineyards.
Mockingbird Hill produces Cabernet Sauvignon and Chardonnay – two of the most popular red and white varietals – in one of the best wine regions in the United States: Napa Valley, California. The warm days, cool nights and long summers develop great flavors in the grapes, and winemaker David Schlottman carefully handles them to create some of the best-tasting wines on the planet.
The flagship Opus One red wine is a Cabernet-dominant Bordeaux blend, which also contains smaller quantities of Merlot, Cabernet Franc, Petit Verdot, and Merlot.
Opus One’s second and only other wine, Overture, is made with the fruit that doesn’t quite make the Opus One grade.
Stag’s Leap Wine Cellars, notably known for being the winery that won the Cabernet Sauvignon competition in the famous 1976 Judgment of Paris, was founded in 1970, and is considered a Napa Valley first-growth estate.
