In 1979, Jane Hunter and her late husband Ernie planted their first vineyard in the picturesque Wairau Valley, recognising the region’s potential long before it became a renowned wine powerhouse. Since those early days, Jane has driven the company forward as owner, viticulturist, and managing director. Under her leadership, Hunter’s Wines has expanded significantly, now producing around 120,000 cases annually, with 90-95% of this exported worldwide. Today, Hunter’s stands at the forefront of New Zealand winemaking, crafting not only exceptional Sauvignon Blanc but also outstanding sparkling wines and other unique varietals that showcase Marlborough’s diversity.
