Vignerons Nadja Wallington and Steve Mobbs are a husband and wife team who recently launched their boutique wine brand Chalou Wines in 2021. Nadja and Steve both grew up on small vineyards and fell in love with the world of wine. They met at university whilst studying winemaking before going their separate ways to gain experience making wine across the globe. In 2014 they came to Orange and saw the opportunity within the region to make exceptional wines. In 2022 Nadja was awarded Young Winemaker of the year and ChaLou Wines has been recognised as a finalist in 2022+2023 for Young Guns of Wine. At ChaLou Wines Nadja and Steve have a bud to bottle operation; they grow all their own grapes, then make and bottle all their wines onsite. Their vineyard sits at a cool 900m on Ordovician soils. Their winemaking focuses on fruit quality; harnessing the expression of their site, with minimal intervention and thoughtful winemaking focusing on Pinot Noir, Chardonnay, Riesling and Syrah.
