Katnook Estate is located on the Riddoch Highway, just north of Penola, in the heart of Coonawarra. Katnook is an aboriginal word meaning "Fat Land" referring to Coonawarra's red, fertile soil known today as "terra rossa".
Katnook was the site of Coonawarra’s second vintage made by John Riddoch in 1896. In the 1980, the second chapter of Katnook Estate began when wines were again produced from the property by Senior Winemaker Wayne Stehbens...who still makes Katnook Estate wines today, with the crush of the 2013 vintage, Wayne celebrated 35 vintages at Katnook.

It was only ever supposed to be temporary. John and Melissa moved to the iconic Coonawarra region 25 years ago intending to, in John’s words, “stay a little while”.
They bought a parcel of land ringed by tall Red Gum Eucalypts, and with natural wetlands dotted with Ottelia Ovalifolia, a native waterlily. All these years later John and Melissa are still there.
Patrick of Coonawarra was established by celebrated winemaker Patrick Tocaciu.
During a decorated career spanning more than three decades, he has celebrated international accolades while working as chief winemaker for several major labels. The focus then switched to fulfilling a more personal goal in the establishment of the family owned and operated Patrick of Coonawarra, in 2004.
Patrick’s eldest son, Luke, has now taken over the family business and continues to produce highly regarded wines from the famed Terra Rossa soils of Coonawarra.
Four Hours South-East of Adelaide, the Coonawarra region is the traditional home of the Bindjali people. With beautiful Terra Rossa soils, this land is widely known as producing some of Australia’s best red wines, particularly their cabernet sauvignon.
Coles-owned brand.
Family owned and operated, Raidis Estate is Coonawarra’s new ‘kid’ in wine. The Raidis’ have lived and worked in the community for the past forty years. They have a hands on approach to wine production and are actively involved in all stages of the process. To achieve superior quality wines their vines are hand pruned and low yielding.
Combine a dynamic team, committed to producing the finest wines, position them in Australia’s premium Cabernet growing region and grant them one of the country’s most acclaimed winemakers and its easy to see why Reschke is setting industry benchmarks.
The commitment to the final product begins in the vineyard and stretches back to the first plantings. Great vines need to be meticulously nurtured by hand pruned. They also need patience and planning. The stringent sustainable but seemingly needful viticultural practices ensure yields are kept low and optimum flavor profiles are achieved.
Reschke, innovative and uncompromising, is seen as a leader in this field with vineyard management case studies being conducted by industry researchers, to help develop a path toward best practice. The demand for the fruit through the nineties meant it was used in some of Australia’s icon wines.
The Reschke family first settled in Coonawarra in 1906, where they established their Hereford stud. The cattle grazing heritage is the inspiration for the Bull logo and hopefully symbolizes their ‘grit’ in pursuit of their goals, passion, strength and resolve. The Reschke vineyard holdings of 400 acres, consists of
Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Shiraz, Petit Verdot, all cropped particularly low to yield the highest quality fruit.
The generation of Coonawarra that Reschke represents is two fold, with cutting edge viticulture married to traditional winemaking techniques under the watchful eye of winemaking legend, Peter Douglas. Burke, the fourth generation of Reschke’s in Coonawarra, represents the influence in this vibrant wine company with already impeccable credentials.
Burke’s preference to release the red wine range after it has had some time to mature, offers a comforting indication into the potential of the wines and the commitment to creating a wine experience worthy of your time.

Zema Estate is proudly family-owned and independent (1982-2022).
We have a proud Italian heritage, with humble beginnings. The first vintage of Zema Estate wines was made with very little equipment, a tin shed, and an old milk tanker under the generous guidance of veteran Coonawarra Winemaker Ken Ward.
Our core values of hand-pruning, careful fruit selection, the best oak barrels, and diligent bottle ageing has meant our vintages have consistently stood the test of time.
