Bannockburn Vineyards was established by Stuart Hooper in 1974.
His vision was to create a vineyard which would produce Australian wine of a quality to emulate the great wines of France, in particular the great Burgundies. Stuart Hooper had a purist, uncompromising approach to quality grape growing and winemaking. He had a strong belief in making wines which genuinely reflect the flavours of the vineyard.
Although Stuart has since passed away, Bannockburn Vineyards remains in the Hooper family and his philosophy remains as the cornerstone behind all we do at Bannockburn today.
In the case of Between Five Bells, we use a tiny corner of the wonderful Lethbridge winery in Geelong, Victoria. Lethbridge was built by Ray Nadeson and his family in 1997. It’s a straw-bale barn with great thermal properties and all the idiosyncrasies you’d expect from a building built by a research scientists turned winemaker.
As small boutique producers we are able to give our wines the time and attention that result in wines with structure, elegance and purity of fruit.
The fruit for Bromley wines is sourced from select vineyards from the
Bellarine Peninsula and Moorabool Valley near Geelong, Victoria.
Brown Magpie Wines is a family owned winery and vineyard in Modewarre, which is situated in the Surf Coast hinterland of the Geelong Wine.
The gently sloping estate overlooks a picturesque view of Mount Moriac. Its small sheltered, nine hectare vineyard is ideally positioned to grow aromatic cool climate grape varieties.
Taking no short cuts and selecting only the best fruit, the grapes are hand-picked and processed within hours of harvesting.
Brown Magpie wines believe in the traditional art of winemaking. The wine is handcrafted at the on site dedicated winery.
Brown Magpie wines only leave the vineyard in the bottle. The love and care taken is to honour the wine and the region, and to deliver special wines for you to discover and enjoy with family and friends.

Fine wine, magnificent views and luscious fruit are what you can expect from the Clyde Park Vineyard. Set on the truly unique hills surrounding the Moorabool River, 30 kilometres north of Geelong, Victoria, places Clyde Park at the forefront of cool climate viticulture.
The property was established in 1979 with small plantings of Pinot Noir and Chardonnay. Further plantings have increased the holding to thirty-five acres under vine, expanding the existing Pinot Noir and Chardonnay, adding the varieties of Shiraz, Sauvignon Blanc and Pinot Gris. Our Pinot Noir consists of seven different clones originating from Switzerland, California, France and Australia.
The site consists of undulating north-easterly slopes. The soil varies from silt/clay to sand loam with basalt over a limestone base. Plantings on our north-easterly slopes provide maximum exposure to sunlight, whilst the river flat area offers warmth and wind protection. Viticulturally the site produces premium fruit of low yields. This, combined with expert cool climate wine making techniques, produces wines of great complexity, exemplifying a perfect balance of acids and fruit.
(part of Wine by Farr) Farr Rising wines are produced from both Estate grown fruit and purchased fruit. The single vineyard estate grown fruit for both the chardonnay and pinot noir were planted in 2002 on a mixture of black volcanic soil over limestone towards the bottom of the north facing slope and ironstone soil towards the top. The vine rows run north south to achieve maximum light and flavour.
The purchased fruit comes from pinot noir clones 114 and 115, Dijon clones on rootstock, a vineyard planted in 1980, solely to MV6 for pinot noir and I10V1 for chardonnay. The site is 10km down the Moorabool valley from the Winery Estate, on similar soils.
Also fruit is sourced from Merricks on the Mornington Peninsula for the Farr Rising Mornington Pinot Noir, which has now reached 10 years of production. Merricks is a very different site to Bannockburn, it has twice the rainfall, vigour and protection from the elevation. Therefore, there needs to be manipulation in the vineyard to produce intense, complex flavours. The wines are always a lot softer and sweeter than Bannockburn.
Our cool climate wines are produced in limited quantities from estate grown Sauvignon Blanc, Chardonnay, Pinot Noir and Shiraz. The wines are elegant, complex and reflect true varietal character. Oakdene Cellar Door is open daily from 10am – 4pm.
Group bookings are welcome by appointment only.
Established by the Browne family in 1982, Scotchmans Hill remains a prominent family-owned wine business. Beginning with wines sourced solely from the Bellarine Peninsula, we have evolved into a company that produces and distributes wine from key winemaking regions of Australia and New Zealand. Modern and traditional winemaking techniques are utilised at our winery to produce wines of quality and typicity, with characteristics typical of the various regions.
[This winery may no longer be operating.] Named after the ancient fault line on which the Sutherlands Creek vineyard lies, Rowsley Fault sits on the western edge of the Port Phillip Basin where it meets the Moorabool Valley.
The rich volcanic loam soils rest on a layer of limestone. These conditions show particular promise for a range of European varietals that are emerging in the Rowsley Fault “exotic nursery'. With vineyards across Sutherlands Creek and Russells Bridge, the fruit from the vineyard produces both the Sutherlands Creek label as well as the iconic Rowsley Fault Wine.
3470 Cape Otway Road, Birregurra, VIC, 3242, Australia
Description:
The name ‘Yan Yan Gurt’ is taken from a name of a nearby creek which runs alongside our block. Yan Yan Gurt vineyard is about a 40-minute drive from Geelong and flanks the Otway Ranges of South-West Victoria. The climate in Birregurra is very cool and very well suited to our principal varieties Pinot Noir and Chardonnay. The vineyard is approximately 1.5 hectares or 3.7 acres in size, it also forms part of the historic Ingleby Estate.
Yan Yan Gurt was established in 1996 and with vines now in their 22nd year, we believe our wines have a depth and complexity that reflect the soil, climate, and topography of Birregurra. Intervention is minimal and this approach helps us make wine
of substance and character.
Our vines are entirely hand-pruned, hand-picked and hand-tended. The wines presented here are 100% estate grown.
