The Juniper story starts with the three exceptional vineyards we own – each as unique as a fingerprint – which sit on some of the most ancient and prized viticultural soils in the world. Juniper’s Wilyabrup dry-grown vineyard was planted in 1973 and delivers extraordinary Cabernet Sauvignon. The southerly, cooler Karridale close-planted vineyard (est.1997) supplies us with remarkable, world-class Chardonnay, whilst our Metricup site, planted just to the north on virgin pastoral land in 2008, was established with greater know-how and innovation, and in time, may produce the most exceptional fruit of the three. Each of these vineyards is tended with the utmost respect, framed by a long-term outlook to preserve soil health and foster vine resilience, to produce grapes which distinctly and faithfully express their origin. Juniper was established in 1998 by Roger Hill and Gillian Anderson, as a small WA family-owned business, driven by a passion for Cabernet Sauvignon. Continuing the work of his parents, Tom Hill is guiding the operation into its ‘second act’ with the focus of the business squarely on Cabernet, and also Chardonnay.
